ARTHUR JEFFERY CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF ISLAM

Workshop One

Identity & Call

Date: 19 February, 2022

Presented by: Rev Dr Michael Bräutigam , Dr Lidia Lae, Dr Thomas Kimber.

Get a clearer sense of your identity and calling and become more intentional about spiritual formation in your daily walk with Christ.

Knowing your identity is crucial as you seek to live out your faith and respond to God’s call effectively. In times of increasing identity confusion, Christians need to know who they are as they follow in Christ’s footsteps. In this workshop we explore creative tools of identity & spiritual formation, figuring out together what it means to live as Jesus’ disciples in a complex world.

Workshop Outline:

This workshop is divided into three sessions.

The first session will explore psychological and theological approaches to self and identity. You will also receive new clarity on how your story fits in God’s great narrative of redemption.

In the second session, we will look at the dynamic aspects of identity formation through the lens of Jesus’ call to discipleship, in particular the call to self-denial.

The third session focuses on spiritual identity formation and you will learn how to live out your union with Christ as an active disciple in the current age.

Transformational Skills

  • Experience the positive impact of your union with Christ in all areas of life
  • Identify the signs of healthy/destructive identity patterns
  • Adopt fresh, creative approaches to spiritual formation
  • Live out your vocation/calling more meaningfully and passionately
